That was one hell of a week
Well that was one of the better weeks in the oddly long history of Action Verbs. Let’s recap, shall we?
Sunday
We started last Sunday doing a live set and interview on WZLX’s Boston Emissions with Anngelle Wood. Anngelle has been a great supporter of the band we are extremely appreciative of that.
Check out their podcast of our in-studio appearance at http://wzlx.radio.com/2010/04/23/boston-emissions-april-25/. It’s the second audio file in the list and fast forward to the 9:40 mark. We played two songs acoustic: The Men East and Wishbone. Anngelle also played two of our recorded tracks: Matchbook Maps and Makeshift Container. We did some interviewing as well and made some requests. It was an all around swell time.
Thursday
We got our new cd’s in! Just in time for our EP release show. Good timing.
Saturday
We played our second ever EP release show, and hot damn was it a good time. We played with a bunch of great bands. Started out with The Maquis who were quite good. We went on second and played what we could only describe as a great set. The crowd was great, and we sold some of our brand spanking new cd’s and tshirts. We were followed by The Dirty Truckers, The Willows (also playing a cd release and a great band we’ve played with a few times), and finally by The Wrong Reasons. That was a seriously great show. And Mike will take to his grave that he played while having a 100+ degree fever…clearly one of the defining moments of his life.
Sunday
MayFair! This is a seriously great event, and it was an amazing day for playing outdoors. This was our third outdoor festival and it was by far the best weather we’ve ever had for it. Lots of people, delicious Brazilian barbecue, and another great set.
Thank you to everyone who tuned in, came out to shows, bought our music, or just supported us in general. It’s always appreciated.
And thanks to Morgan for helping put so much of it together. He doesn’t get enough thanks, but does a lot.

Action Verbs to play MayFair 2010, Sunday May 2nd!
We received word this week that we’ve been added to the bill for MayFair 2010 in Harvard Square, this Sunday, May 2nd. This is a great event for the arts in the heart of Cambridge and we’re happy to be a part of it again (we played in 2008 as well). We’ll be playing on the main stage at 3:15pm.
There are other great bands and events for everyone, so come out and support the local music and arts scene.

Great Scott Roundup: Joey vs. Bronchitis
First things first, thanks to the bands who played (and played excellently we should say: Spouse, The Beatings, Parlour Steps), but most of all thanks to Ryan over at RSLBlog.com for putting together by far one of the best bills we’ve ever been a part of.
We’d also like to thank our lead singer Joe for powering through a bout of bronchitis to kick ass at the show last night. I understand it was a lot of over the counter drugs, cough drops and Jameson’s that got him through.
Also, there were more drunk girls dancing to our songs (and professing their love to those on stage). This is becoming a recurring theme that we would like to see continued.
And lastly, we played our first cover ever. Nate won the drawing to see who got to choose the first song. His choice was Rearviewmirror by Pearl Jam. We busted that out last night to end the show, which was a good time. I believe Jacob has the next choice, we’ll see what he has in store for our next show.
Next show: Feb. 24th at Church in the Fenway area of Boston. Until then, enjoy.

Mid East Upstairs Roundup: Action Verbs 1, Engagements 0
We sincerely want to thank everyone that stuck around to watch us play last night at the ungodly time of 12:40. We kept it short and sweet and we all thought it went exceedingly well. There were a surprising amount of people left after the great show put on by the four bands before us (Oranjuly, Blizzard of 78, Old Jack, and the Forest Fires).
Now that does not mean drama was not involved. Apparantely, the Action Verbs catalog is entertaining and dance worthy enough to get engaged women to dance with men who are not their fiancees, and that apparently doesn’t go over well with said fiancees. A verbal argument ensued and an attempt to rip the ring off her finger commenced. And then they seemingly drunkenly made up and stumbled out together…really everyone had a good time.
Ahhh, til the 21st at Great Scott…hope you all can make it out then.
Set list was as follows:
Awesome
Canary
The Men East
Wishbone
Foghorn
Fake Roland
Bustop
