Two new shows to announce

Good news, we have two new shows to announce, both with The Willows.

The first is 4/10, a Saturday, at The Midway Cafe.  We’ve never played there before and it’s always exciting to play new places.  We’ll be playing with The Willows and The Vic Morrows.

The second is 5/1, also a Saturday, at the Middle East Upstairs.  We’ll be playing with The Willows, Dirty Truckers and Joel Fletcher & the Wrong Reasons.

Check out the shows page.

Great Scott Roundup: Joey vs. Bronchitis

First things first, thanks to the bands who played (and played excellently we should say: Spouse, The Beatings, Parlour Steps), but most of all thanks to Ryan over at RSLBlog.com for putting together by far one of the best bills we’ve ever been a part of.

We’d also like to thank our lead singer Joe for powering through a bout of bronchitis to kick ass at the show last night.  I understand it was a lot of over the counter drugs, cough drops and Jameson’s that got him through.

Also, there were more drunk girls dancing to our songs (and professing their love to those on stage).  This is becoming a recurring theme that we would like to see continued.

And lastly, we played our first cover ever.  Nate won the drawing to see who got to choose the first song.  His choice was Rearviewmirror by Pearl Jam.  We busted that out last night to end the show, which was a good time.  I believe Jacob has the next choice, we’ll see what he has in store for our next show.

Next show: Feb. 24th at Church in the Fenway area of Boston.  Until then, enjoy.

Mid East Upstairs Roundup: Action Verbs 1, Engagements 0

We sincerely want to thank everyone that stuck around to watch us play last night at the ungodly time of 12:40.  We kept it short and sweet and we all thought it went exceedingly well.  There were a surprising amount of people left after the great show put on by the four bands before us (Oranjuly, Blizzard of 78, Old Jack, and the Forest Fires).

Now that does not mean drama was not involved.  Apparantely, the Action Verbs catalog is entertaining and dance worthy enough to get engaged women to dance with men who are not their fiancees, and that apparently doesn’t go over well with said fiancees.  A verbal argument ensued and an attempt to rip the ring off her finger commenced.  And then they seemingly drunkenly made up and stumbled out together…really everyone had a good time.

Ahhh, til the 21st at Great Scott…hope you all can make it out then.

Set list was as follows:

Awesome
Canary
The Men East
Wishbone
Foghorn
Fake Roland
Bustop

Looking for a Keyboard Player

Action Verbs is looking for a keyboard player.  We’ve got a posting on craigslist, here it is:

Action Verbs (myspace.com/actionverbs, actionverbsmusic.com) is looking for a keys player to add to our current lineup (drums, bass, 2 guitars, lead and backing vocals).
Backing vocals a major plus.

We are a boston-based band who have been around for almost 3 years now. We have consistent gigs, consistent recording sessions, and consistent practices. We are pretty serious about doing something and things are just beginning to fall into place. We have some nice gigs in the near future and are starting to get some radio play on local stations. We ask that you can commit to twice a week practices and whenever we have gigs (usually 2 or 3 a month depending) and have your own gear. I am not going to bother with influences and say you should just check out the websites listed above. We are all laid back guys in aged 22-30, if you have ego or addiction issues this is not the band for you.

It’s January of 2010, what’s on tap?

Hey all-
So it’s now 2010. Good times. We feel we’ve got some good things coming up.

Radio

First thing, we are really grateful to Angelle @ Boston Emissions (http://wzlx.com/pages/4962009) for playing us for the third time on her show and for the first show of the new year.

Shows

Secondly, we’ve got 3 shows lined up for January and February.

  1. This Thursday at Middle East.
  2. January 21st (Thu) @ Great Scott (sponsored by RSLBlog.com)
  3. February 24th (Wed) @ Church

Check out the shows page for more information.

Recording

And last but not least, we are close to having four new songs ready to put out.  We’re currently working on a release structure, but it will most likely involve this here website for initial releases of the songs.

Website

Oh and we’re hoping to do a redesign of the site in the next couple of months.  You’ll know when it happens.
